Lukoil Neftochim Burgas calls tender for green hydrogen production feasibility study
Bulgarian oil refinery Lukoil Neftochim Burgas, part of Russia's LUKOIL, said it opened a public tender for a feasibility study of green hydrogen production through electrolysis, the local SeeNews reported.
The deadline for submitting applications for participation in the tender is August 11 and the deadline for the submission of bids is August 22, the company said in a tender information document.
In January 2021, Bulgaria's energy regulator said Lukoil Neftochim Burgas is planning to invest $211 million/173 million euro) in an upgrade of its thermal power plant (TPP) by 2024.
The company plans to buy new turbines this year and new boilers in 2022, the energy regulator said in a report align="justify"> In February 2020 LUKOIL Neftohim Burgas commissioned an innovative technology using a new type of nanocatalyst – with higher selectivity and performance.
The complex is the largest catalytic hydrocracking unit in Europe with a throughput capacity of 2.5 mln. tons of oil feedstock per annum.
It is the 4th unit in Europe and the 6th align="justify"> LUKOIL Neftochim Burgas is the largest refining and chemical processing plant in Bulgaria with a processing capacity of 9.5 million tones of oil per year.
The refinery located in the Black Sea port of Burgas was launched into operation in 1964.
