BTC exports 13m tons of crude oil in 1H2021
The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline that takes Azerbaijani oil to Europe via Turkey, exported more than 13 million tons of crude oil in the first half of 2021, the pipeline’s operator BP Azerbaijan has said in its recent report.
The oil was exported from Turkey’s Ceyhan terminal, loaded align="justify"> During the reported period, more than $69 million was spent in operating expenditure and over $12 million in capital expenditure align="justify"> Overall, BTC exported over 488 million tons of crude oil loaded align="justify"> BTC pipeline currently carries mainly the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli crude oil and the Shah Deniz condensate from Azerbaijan. Other volumes of crude oil and condensate also continue to be transported via BTC, including volumes from Turkmenistan, Russia, and Kazakhstan.
Furthermore, in January-June 2021, the Sangachal terminal exported about 115 million barrels of oil and condensate to world markets. This includes about 99 million barrels through Baku-Tbilisi- Ceyhan and about 16 million barrels through the Western Route Export Pipeline.
In addition, about 55 million cubic meters of Shah Deniz gas were exported from the terminal daily in the first half of 2021.
It was noted that the daily capacity of the terminal’s processing systems is currently 1.2 million barrels of crude oil and condensate, and around 100 million cubic meters of gas, including 81 million cubic meters for Shah Deniz gas.
