根据美国政府数据显示，墨西哥湾四分之三的石油生产仍处于停产状态，因为维修工作一直拖延。陆上加工和管道设施的电力中断，使部分石油生产无法到达岸上，这从上周开始支撑了油价。
咨询公司雷斯塔能源（Rystad Energy）的石油市场分析师Nishant Bhushan表示，重启"至少还需一周时间"。
墨西哥湾最大的石油生产商荷兰皇家壳牌公司（Royal Dutch Shell Plc）周四宣布，由于飓风艾达（Ida）的破坏，向亚洲输送石油的事宜不可抗力。该公司表示，其海湾地区80%的生产仍处于停产状态。
超过2000万桶的美国海湾产量已经流失到市场。根据海上安全与环境执法局(Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement)的数据显示，周四关闭约139万桶/天的原油产量和17.2亿立方英尺/天的天然气产量。
