ExxonMobil continues operations at US Baytown, Baton Rouge production sites
ExxonMobil's Baytown, Texas, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, operations "continue to run safely and reliably" ahead of Hurricane Laura, according to a company spokesman.
The storm has strengthened and is expected to make landfall late Wednesday as a category 4 hurricane along the Texas/Louisiana border. Baytown is about 100 miles to the west, but could be affected by adverse weather; Baton Rouge is not in the path of the storm.
ExxonMobil has, at Baytown, production capacity of 9,800 bbl/day Group I and 18,200 bbl/day Group II base oil, and at Baton Rouge, capacity of 16,000 bbl/day Group I base oil, along with associated paraffin wax production for its Group I.
The company's Baytown production site also includes the following chemicals: benzene, mixed xylenes, paraxylene, orthoxylene, ethylene, propylene, butadiene (BD), polypropylene (PP) and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE).
The company's Baton Rouge production site also includes the following chemicals: benzene, toluene, ethylene, propylene, BD, PP, polyethylene (PE), isopropanol (IPA), phthalic anhydride, and plasticizers.
