据天然气新闻迪拜报道，与合作伙伴开采的天然气占到埃及天然气总产量60%左右的英国石油公司（BP）日前在位于尼罗河三角洲东部北达米埃塔海上租借区的卡塔迈亚气田开始生产天然气。
BP在10月26日的一份声明中说，卡塔迈亚气田预计天然气日产量可达到5000万立方英尺，但BP没有提供达到这个日产量的时间表。
BP通过其与埃及国有天然气控股公司组建的合资企业法老石油公司致力于这个气田的开发。卡塔迈亚气田的发现在2017年宣布，这个埃及第3大天然气发现是BP在东尼罗河三角洲北达米埃塔海上租借区100%权益的一部分。这个气田生产的天然气将被直接输送到埃及国家供气网。

BP starts production at Qattameya gas field in Egypt's East Nile Delta
BP, which pumps around 60% of Egypt's gas output with partners, has started natural gas production from the Qattameya field in the North Damietta offshore concession in the eastern part of the Nile River Delta.
The field is expected to produce up to 50 MMcf/d, BP said Oct. 26 in a statement, without providing a timeframe. BP is working on the field through its joint venture, Pharaonic Petroleum Co., with state-owned Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co. The Qattameya discovery was announced in 2017 and is part of BP's 100% interest in the North Damietta offshore concession in the East Nile Delta. Gas produced from the field is directed to Egypt's national grid.
BP produces Egypt's gas through Pharaonic Petroleum, and Petrobel in the East Nile Delta as well as through BP's operated West Nile Delta fields, according to its website.
BP was supposed to deliver 900,000 boe/d of gas production by 2021 from Egypt and other investments, former group CEO Bob Dudley said in a Feb. 11, 2019, statement.
