据俄罗斯油气网11月2日消息称，浦项国际与马来西亚国家石油公司签署协议，在马来西亚开发和运营天然气田。
根据该合同，浦项制铁将对马来西亚东海岸50~80米深的区块PM524(4738平方米)天然气田进行勘探和运营。
马来西亚石油管理公司高级副总裁Mohamed Firouz Asnan说:
“我们欢迎浦项国际进入马来西亚的上游油气行业，作为马来西亚的新参与者，他们带来了在该地区其他地区经营气田的经验，包括碳捕获和存储技术的发展。
该合同进一步增强了马来西亚作为寻求扩大能源组合并在能源转型中蓬勃发展的公司目的地的吸引力。
在我们正确的资产、正确的参与者战略下，在渐进财政制度的支持下，我们希望充分最大化马来西亚的碳氢化合物资源的长期价值，特别是在马来西亚半岛，那里的需求预计将增加。”
韩国浦项拥有气田勘探权4年，自然资源开发生产权24年。韩国浦项是运营商，拥有 80% 的参与权益，而Petronas Carigali 持有剩余的 20%。
这是韩国浦项在马来西亚的第一个自然资源勘探交易，标志着除了在缅甸的现有业务外，还向其他东南亚市场扩张。

South Korean Posco secured offshore gas exploration & production rights in Malaysia
Posco International signed an agreement with Malaysia's state-owned Petronas to explore and operate a gas field in the Southeast Asian country.
Under the contract, Posco will explore and operate Block PM524, a 4,738 sq.m. natural gas field located in the sea about 50 to 80 m deep off the east coast of Malaysia.
Mohamed Firouz Asnan, Senior VP of Malaysia Petroleum Management, said:

Posco has rights to explore the gas field for 4 years, as well as develop and produce the natural resources for 24 years. Posco is the operator with 80 % participating interest while Petronas Carigali holds the remaining 20%.
It is Posco's 1st natural resource exploration deal in Malaysia, marking an expansion into other Southeast Asian markets besides its existing business in Myanmar.
